I didn't know how to feel about it at first. I put it to some friends:

new BTBAM sounds like 80s king crimson and mr bungle, like not surprising but also like so on the nose that it is

I kinda like it but also kinda don't? Very conflicted. For the record -Iv'e always thought BTBAM should just do a straight prog record and drop the heavy shit - sound like this might be close to that.

I’ve had a few friends tell me they don’t like when they aren’t heavy. Isn’t that one of the things that made them stand out and made people like them in the first place?

I had mixed feelings about Colors II, but after a few listens, it turned into one of my favorite albums of theirs. The new track does have pretty solid Mr. Bungle vibes though.

My favorite album might be Coma Ecliptic. It leans pretty hard into Pink Floyd territory.
